recap
Joe, the amazing human being that he is, remembered that I wanted this:

It's tiny, cute and perfect.
Dinner at Spire was AMAZING. The five course tasting menu was delish.
Next weekend--part of the late celebration--is the Chocolate Bar at Cafe Fleuri at the Langham. The menu alone is enough to make you gain ten pounds. Mmmm I can't wait!

Naughty naughty?
Greg is keeping me updated on the whereabouts of my panda. Turns out that my little friend is a bit of a wild one!
Apparently Greg came across "this photo of our little friend doing something covert. i didn't ask but when I got home last night he smelled of smoke and had lipstick on his scarf!"

bits of random-ness
I realize that I haven't blogged lately. I've been busy. Or lazy. Maybe a bit of both. But I'm always interested...
Some of the random things that have caught my interest:
* Zillow, a very cool way to research real-estate
* EQ2 and all of the enjoyable time-suck that it is
* How long it will be before they indict Cheney
* CB2 has a new catalog! But when are they going to open up a store in Boston?
* When you wash clothes and oil gets all over them, it means that your seal around the agitator is cracked and that basically a new washer is on your agenda. And new clothes. Argh.
* I hope to soon have the courage to join this club.
* Apparently up in Canada they aren't just fond of poutine (BLECH), but also eating pig's tails.
* Hanging out in the wonderfully clever Kingdom of Loathing

Paku!
Over on one of my favorite websites, Cute Overload, Meg introduced us Westerners to a cute little stuffed panda which the Japanese take pictures of in various settings

and post to a website. Lucky me, my longtime friend Greg has been hanging out in Japan and I asked him about the pandas. He said that the website doesn't really sell them--just one store in Harujuku does. So he made it his mission to hunt down a panda for me.
It was my 5AM but for my little Paku Panda it was 6PM when he began his long journey on "a snowy Tokyo evening with two sweet Japanese chicks who kissed panda's forehead before his maiden voyage..."

Ooooo where will he go next?

the sweet smell of success
well, if you are a bowler, you might hope that success goes along with the sweet smell. My sister recently had her car stolen from her driveway in Boise. Her husband was warming up the car and he went back in to say goodbye to the kids and someone came and swiped the car, which also had his wallet, watch, the kids' car seats and two bowling balls in the trunk. A week later they did recover the car, sans radio and everything inside it. A week or so after that, they found the kids that had taken the car, but their stuff was still a loss.
But now, Misty and Tom can replace their lost bowling balls with yes, you are reading this correctly--scented bowling balls!!

Apparently they are quite popular with pro bowlers--over half used them last year during the PBA tour last year. The balls, made by Storm, has around 40 different scented balls, such as black cherry, chocolate, lemonade, plum, blueberry, grape, banana, cinnamon, orange, amaretto and cherry.
Mmm. Amaretto. If I were going to be buying a bowling ball, that would do it for me...

fashion geek
I really think I should have one of these:

Tulip E-Go notebook inlaid with solid palladium white gold plates in which thousands of brilliant cut diamonds have been set. The quality is V.V.S. top-Wesselton and the total weight is 80.00 Crt.
but since I can't probably afford that...I would certainly settle for one of the funky fabric ones...

I think it would inspire me to get off my ass, go sit in a cafe and write. I'd look so ultra-hip now, wouldn't I?

shuffle wuffle
I picked up a little 1 gig iPod shuffle for Joe's birthday.

It's so tiny and so cute. It weighs next to nothing. I can't believe how completely little it is. My 256mb memory stick is clunkier than that precious gem.

little jewels
I forgot to mention that the October/November issue of
is up! Some really great art this issue, as well as all the other lively bits of poetry, interesting memoirs and wonderful fiction.
Also, I want to show off the really beautiful necklace that I picked up while in P-Town.
The necklace is a Swarovski crystal pendant and what you can't see here is that it isn't a black cord, but rather little individual, thin black acrylic paillettes. It's really beautiful. Elegant but simple.
I didn't get the earrings...we were starting to spend too much! But the artist is a German woman, Carola Hiersemann, who is quite well known in Europe but not as well known here in America. I think though, that more and more boutique shops are starting to carry her line. I was just thrilled to discover that you could buy her jewelry via the Internet. Really, go check her stuff out...the necklaces are incredible. The designs are bold, beautiful and made out of really interesting materials: "hand-winded glass, shell, alabaster-glass pearls, eloxated aluminum, precious wood, coral, gold, silver…and unique acrylic "paillettes" with mirrored surfaces." And the best part is that while it's fine, boutique jewelry, it's not a zillion dollars...it's actually quite moderately priced. The site doesn't really do justice to the beauty of the pieces...especially the Swarovski crystal. I think that this is the kind of jewelry I could really get into collecting--starting with the earrings to go with my necklace!
