100 THINGS ABOUT CRYSTAL LYN
1. I love sweet pickles.
2. Canasta is my favorite card game.
3. I was bit by my cat the day before my tenth birthday. I still have four white scars on the back of my left leg.
4. I loathe doing the dishes.
5. I was a runner-up to go to the Washington state Spelling Bee finals when I was in the 3rd grade.
6. Orange and chocolate are my favorite taste combinations.
7. I went to college on a journalism scholarship.
8. Nearly every company that I’ve worked at in the last ten years has been purchased, merged, significantly moved locations (Seattle to Virginia for example) or has dissolved and is no longer in business.Except my current company--working on two years!!!!
9. I began to read before I was two years old.
10. In my life, besides America, I have been to Canada, Mexico (Tijuana), Jamaica (but didn’t see any of it…was just stop-over point), Colombia, Aruba, and Costa Rica.
11. I love to hike and birdwatch.
12. I had my gallbladder removed when I was 23.
13. I worked at Disneyland and Virgin Records at the same time during the summer I turned 21.
14. My favorite place is the Pike Place Market in Seattle.
15. I wrote my first poem at the age of five, entitled June.
16. I was an extremely picky eater as a child.
17. I found out about Santa Claus when I was in the third grade.
18. I am afraid of driving in the snow.
19. I had my first kiss when I was in the 8th grade—at a dance under the mistletoe.
20. I have written hundreds and hundreds of press releases in my lifetime.
21. I’ve been online since 1992. I’ve owned a computer since 1980.
22. I’m torn between Halloween and Christmas as my favorite holidays.
23. One of my ancestors came over on the Mayflower.
24. When I was little, I decided that I wouldn’t have marshmallows in my hot chocolate during the month of February, but only during that month. This lasted for several years. No clue why.
25. I’m extremely flexible.
26. I love video games, especially MMORPGs such as Everquest2, but also love any type of RPG or questing game—Final Fantasy, Morrowind/Oblivion, etc. I can get lost in sim games too though—Rollercoaster Tycoon, Civilization, etc.
27. I look very good in hot pink. Or used to before my hair became the vibrant red that it is today!

My favorite writers are too many to mention, but I love Anne Carson, Diane Ackerman, Pablo Neruda, Octavio Paz, Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Terry Goodkind, Nick Bantock, Anais Nin, Tanith Lee, Ovid, J.K. Rowling, Stephen R. Donaldson, Byron, Elizabeth Haydon, Margaret Atwood, Tolkein, Czeslaw Milosz, e.e. cummings, Marianne Moore, and more…
29. My favorite candy bar is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Mmmm.
30. I wear mostly red and black.
31. I love the smell of Russian Olive trees.
32. I’ve saved people’s lives (worked on a crisis hotline for 2 years).
33. My great uncle discovered Vitamin C.
34. I love kir royals. And cosmopolitans.
35. If I could eat ice cream every day, I would.
36. My first cat was black and her name was Mandy—and yes, after the song.
37. Every time I have tried to make my grandfather’s recipe for caramel corn, I’ve messed it up—which saddens me because it is so amazing.
38. I used to twirl baton.
39. And play the trumpet (I can still sort of remember “Eye of the Tiger”)
40. I won’t wear gold if it’s yellow.
41. I have a horror movie scream.
42. I have moles all over my shoulders and arms from the third degree sunburn I got when I was living in Newport Beach the summer I turned 21. I spent 20 minutes in the sun without lotion.
43. I was in a car accident in 1994 that left my neck messed up. And another in 2005 with a cabhole driver that left my husband with a nose broken in six places and me with a broken nose and a lip split up to my nostrils. Thank good for great plastic surgeons.
44. I love love love rhubarb.
45. On my first date with my husband we ate garlic soup and frog legs. Both were delish!
46. I’ve stepped on a rattlesnake (and then ran like hell when I heard the rattle!)
47. When I write, I love to listen to new age, classical or medieval music.
48. But--my favorite music artists are Peter Murphy and Mediaeval Baebes. I love most 80s alternative music (Sugarcubes/Bjork, Housemartins, Smiths, etc.).
49. I hate the feel of water dripping off the end of my nose.
50. I never lose when I play Othello. Well, my friend Mike would argue that, but no one else can.
51. I have more books than bookshelves. Way more books than bookshelves.
52. I love going to art museums by myself.
53. I slept with, watched TV with, and carried around the house a certain thin green blanket from when I was a youngster (probably 8 or so) till I was in college. It was in holey tatters when I finally parted with it—I still have a corner that I kept.
54. I also have a ratty stuffed dog, who reminded me of my grandparents’ St. Bernard, Penelope, that I slept with till I was a teen.
55. I never wore a training bra…I started out with the real deal.
56. I have been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Marie Claire magazine, Reader’s Digest, and Business Week.
57. The sickest I’ve ever been was from food poisoning at Jimmy’s Harborside.
58. My childhood dog was a little cocker spaniel/welsh corgi mix named Cocoa.
59. I have a little notch in my left ear where I had an earring that become infected and tore through.
60. I have lived in Nine Mile Falls, WA; Spokane; Seattle; Boise; Meridian, ID; Newport Beach, CA; Boston; Cambridge and Belmont, MA.

I have met Rosie O’Donnell, David Byrne, Johnny Rotten, Mick Jones, Robin Williams, Tim Robbins, Kurt Cobain (and the rest of Nirvana), Molly Ringwald, Billy Idol, Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie on Full House), the Posies, Camper Van Beethoven, Primus, Fishbone, Social Distortion, Young Fresh Fellows, Maxine Kumin, John Updike, Tess Gallagher and a LOT more famous people that I can’t think of off the top of my head.
62. I’m a Gemini, born in the year of the pig on June 5, 1971.
63. I had to get a “hack” in the 6th grade for throwing snowballs—even though it wasn’t me that was throwing them.
64. I hate it when paper towels have goofy sayings and stupid graphics on them.
65. I gossip too much.
66. I collect antique postcards of Seattle, Boston and Cambridge from the early 20th century. In addition to cities, I also collect antique postcards of nudes.
67. I am an excellent baker.
68. I am not very good with money. It makes me irrational and crazy when I have to handle bills.
69. It’s not pretty when I fly off the handle.
70. I drink skim milk.
71. My first job was at the drive-up window at Burger King in Garden City (suburb of Boise), ID. I was there two months.
72. I hate eating tomatoes that aren’t processed (i.e. it must be “in” something—ketchup, salsa, pasta sauce are fine).
73. I’ve never been but I am dying to go to Europe.
74. I love to throw parties.
75. I don’t know what the real color of my hair is.
76. Iced coffee always makes my tummy upset.
77. I read fast—about 500 words a minute.
78. I am an expert in mobile marketing.
79. I love cheap, funky silver jewelry.
80. I have been divorced. And married again.
81. I tend to leave clothes lying around in the bedroom.
82. I love fantasy movies and fantasy fiction.
83. My favorite perfume is Hilfiger’s Tommy. Or wait, maybe it's Lancome Hypnose...
84. 14 is my favorite number.
85. I have a blue and black Celtic knot tattoo on my right lower back.
86. I drive a Volkswagen Jetta. I love love my Jetta.
87. I have a sister that is two years younger than me and a brother that’s four years younger.
89. I love Star Trek. And Star Wars. And Lord of the Rings.
90. I’ve discovered that I like going to the beach, even if I do feel very self-conscious.
91. I have a lucky dress. I’ve worn it and landed jobs, met my husband and won money gambling in Vegas. It's too big for me now. I suppose that's lucky too.
92. There is a little church garden on the Cape that is special to me.

98. I get homesick for Seattle even though it’s been nearly 10 years since I’ve lived there.
